Canvas messenger bag
One big soft bag, on the shoulder or across the body
A large unstructured canvas messenger with a top zip, two flap-covered pockets on the front, an open pocket on each side and one wide canvas strap that slides to shoulder or crossbody length.
It is the bag for the days that need a notebook, a sweater, a water bottle and lunch all at once. Nothing about it is stiff: the canvas slouches when it is empty and fills out to whatever you put in it.
How it carries
One strap, two ways to wear it
The strap is a wide band of the same canvas with a plastic slider, so it sits flat on the shoulder instead of digging in like a thin cord. Let it out and the bag hangs at the hip across the body; take it in and it rides under the arm as a shoulder bag.
The main compartment closes with a zip along the top, so the mouth of the bag stays shut when it swings.
Main compartment
A single open space under the top zip. No dividers, no padding, so it takes odd shapes as easily as flat ones.
Outside pockets
Two flap-covered patch pockets on the front and an open patch pocket on each side for a bottle or an umbrella.
Colours
Army green, black, khaki (a warm tan) and white (an off-white cream). Pick it in the buy box.
Read this before you buy
It is soft, unlined canvas, by design
This is a slouchy bag, not a structured one. If you want a bag that stands up on its own and keeps a laptop rigid, this is not it. If you want a light bag that swallows a lot and does not care how you pack it, it is.
- No lining, no padding, no laptop sleeve. The inside is plain canvas. Buyers tell us a 15-inch laptop fits the main compartment; carry it in a sleeve of your own.
- It slouches when empty. The shape in the photos comes from what is inside. Set down half full, it folds.
- The side pockets are open. Good for a bottle, not for anything you would mind losing. The front pockets are covered by flaps; there is no outside zip pocket.
- Colours read more muted in daylight than on a screen. Khaki is a warm tan, not a pale sand. White is a cream off-white.
Pockets
Where the small things go
The two front pockets take a phone, keys, a card holder or earbuds under their flaps. The side pockets hold a bottle or a folded umbrella upright against the body of the bag. The supplier also lists an inside zip pocket and a phone slot in the main compartment.
