Silicone gel moisturizing socks

A soft gel sock that keeps your foot cream on your feet

Most of the lotion you put on your feet at night ends up on the sheets, the sofa or the inside of a cotton sock. This is a single layer of smooth, stretchy silicone gel that goes on over the cream and holds it against the skin while you sit, read or sleep. Take them off, rinse them, and wear them again.

It is a sock made of gel, and this page describes it as one. Products of this shape are usually sold with medical-sounding promises. We make none of them here. What you are buying is a reusable cover that keeps whatever cream you already use where you put it.

What it is, plainly

Four things to know before you order

1
Layer
a single sheet of smooth stretch gel with no fabric lining inside or out
Gel
The material
soft, slightly translucent silicone gel as described by our supplier; it stretches to pull on and springs back
Low
The cut
a plain rounded opening that sits just below the ankle bone, like an ordinary ankle sock
Dots
The sole
a fine raised dot texture across the underside gives a little purchase, though gel on a smooth floor is still slippery

The socks are not pre-filled with lotion, oils or vitamins. They hold the cream you apply yourself. Sold as one stretch size; our supplier gives no measured foot length, so we have not printed a shoe-size range.

How it works

Cream stays put, so it has time to sink in

Apply your usual foot cream or body lotion, then pull the sock on over it. Because the gel does not absorb anything, the cream has nowhere to go but your skin. Sit with them on for half an hour or so, or wear them to bed if you find them comfortable. Skin that has been under cream for that long feels softer to the touch when the sock comes off; that is the whole effect, and it lasts as long as your moisturizer does.

The socks make no cream of their own, do not change what your moisturizer does, and do not treat, cure or prevent any skin condition. If you have a skin condition on your feet, ask a pharmacist or podiatrist before using an occlusive cover over it.

Afterwards

Rinse, air-dry, wear again

When you take them off, turn them inside out and rinse the cream away under the tap with a little soap. Shake off the water and leave them to air-dry over the edge of the sink or a towel rail; the gel dries quickly on its own. Keep them away from radiators, sunlight and anything sharp, and they will last through many wears. Long or rough toenails are the main thing that shortens their life, so trim before you pull them on.

Wearing them

Three things people get wrong the first time

Lotion goes on first

The sock holds cream against the skin; it does not supply any. Apply your moisturizer, then pull the sock on. Wearing them dry does nothing.

Sit down while you wear them

Gel over cream is slippery. The dot texture on the sole helps a little, but these are for the sofa or the bed, not for walking around on tile or wood floors.

Ease them on, do not yank

Gather the sock, slide the toes in, then roll the heel up. Pulling hard at the opening is how a gel sock splits. Trim nails first.

Straight answers

What this page will not tell you

  • No medical claims. These socks do not treat or prevent anything, and they are not a medical device. They hold your cream against your skin; whatever your cream does is between you and its label.
  • No ingredients. The gel is not infused with oils, vitamins or fragrance. If a sock elsewhere promises that, it is a different product.
  • No shoe-size range. They are sold as one stretch size and our supplier gives no measured length, so we will not guess one. If you take a large shoe size, expect a snug fit or ask us before you order.
  • Not a grip sock. The sole is textured, but a gel sock on a smooth floor is slippery. Treat them as something to wear sitting or lying down.
  • Warmth. Gel does not breathe. Feet get warm inside them, and some people find that unpleasant after an hour. Start with a shorter wear and see how you get on.

Three colours, one pair per order

White, nude or pink, and the same sock underneath

The colour is the only difference. Each order is one pair of the colour you choose. The photographs on this page show the white; the nude is a soft beige and the pink a pale rose, both slightly translucent like the white.
