Rhinestone Fishnet Sock Heels – Black Mesh Pointed-Toe Stiletto Boots

This is a sock boot, not a sandal: a closed, sharply pointed toe, a thin stiletto heel, and a shaft that pulls up to mid-calf. The whole upper is a black stretch fishnet with a small iridescent rhinestone set at every knot of the net, so the boot sparkles from the toe to the cuff and your skin shows through the mesh between the stones. There is no zip and no strap. You point your toe, pull the mesh up over your foot and it holds itself there. It is the shoe for the evening where you want the shoes to be noticed.

What it actually is

• A stretch mesh upper, not a hard shell. The fishnet is elastic and follows the shape of your foot and calf. The rhinestones are set on the net, so the sparkle is all over the boot rather than a strip at the toe.
• A firm pointed toe. The toe is a closed, pointed cap that does not stretch. That is where the fit is decided, and it runs narrow, so read the sizing section before you choose.
• A stiletto heel. The maker states the heel at about 4.3 inches (11 cm). It is a thin heel with a small tip. The sole is a smooth, pale leather-look sole with no tread.
• Mid-calf shaft with an elastic cuff. The maker states the shaft at about 7 inches (18 cm), finishing a hand-span above the ankle bone with a plain black stretch band that keeps it up.
• One color. Black mesh with clear iridescent rhinestones that throw pink, blue and gold in the light. The toe cap, heel cover and cuff are matte black.

Sizing, and how to choose

Sizes run on the maker's chart, which is built on foot length. Measure your foot from heel to the tip of your longest toe, standing, and pick the size whose foot length matches. The US size in each label is the maker's stated equivalent for that foot length; it is not our own conversion, and it does not always line up with the size you wear in US brands, so trust the measurement over the number. If you fall between two lengths, or your foot is wide, take the larger size: the mesh will stretch to a smaller foot, but the pointed toe box will not stretch to a bigger one.

Wearing them

• Putting them on. Point your toe, work the pointed cap onto your foot first, then pull the mesh up the calf. Do not yank the cuff; pull from the mesh below it.
• What shows. The mesh is open, so the skin of your foot and calf is visible between the stones. Bare legs or sheer tights look best; opaque tights change the look completely.
• The heel. A 4.3 inch stiletto is a proper heel. It is an evening and event shoe, not a walk-across-town shoe, and the thin tip will sink into grass and catch in grates.
• The sole. The sole is smooth. Take care on polished floors and wet ground until it has scuffed in.

Looking after them

• Wipe the mesh with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not soak or machine wash: the rhinestones are glued to the net and water loosens the adhesive.
• Store them flat or on a boot form, out of a squashed bag, so the mesh does not stretch out of shape and the stones do not rub against each other.
• Pull them on and off by the mesh, not by the stones. A stone that catches on a nail or jewelry can lift.
