Filming alone means one of two compromises: you stay planted on a mark so the frame still works, or you move naturally and walk out of shot. This stand removes the choice. A small sensor on the arm picks you out, a motor turns the head, and the phone follows you around the room while your hands stay on whatever you are actually doing.

The tracking happens in the stand, not on your phone

This is the part worth being precise about, because the category is full of look-alikes that quietly need software. There is a small optical sensor set into the control arm beside the pole. It watches the scene, finds a subject, and drives the motorized head to keep that subject centered. Your phone is only along for the ride, recording as it normally would.

Practically, that means nothing to install - no app, no account, no pairing screen, no update that breaks it a year from now, and no wondering whether the software still exists. Switch it on, frame yourself, and start moving. It works the same whichever phone is in the clamp, because the phone is not doing the work.

What the remote is for

A small wireless remote ships with the stand and clips into a holster on the side of the pole, so it lives with the tripod instead of disappearing into a drawer. That remote is a wireless shutter and control - it is a separate thing from the tracking, which needs no connection to your phone at all.

Desk height to well over your head

Collapsed, the whole stand is about the length of a forearm and drops into a tote. Opened out, the legs spread into a stable tripod and the pole runs up to 70.9 in (180 cm) - measured to the top of the pole, not to some intermediate section. That is tall enough to shoot down over a counter for cooking or craft work, and tall enough to put the lens above eye level for a full-body frame.

Between those two extremes the pole locks at any height you like. The head itself articulates on manual joints as well as the powered rotation, so you can point the phone down at a table, straight ahead for a piece to camera, or flip the clamp between upright and sideways for vertical or horizontal video.

Setting it up

• Press the release at the base and the legs swing out - no thumbscrews to find.
• Extend the pole to the height you want; each section locks where you stop.
• Spring clamp at the top opens for the phone and rotates for portrait or landscape.
• Standard 1/4 in - 20 thread on top of the head, so an action camera or a small light can go up there instead.
• Charges over USB-C from the same brick as everything else you own.
