Most foot baths are too shallow to reach the part that aches
Stand or walk all day and the ache does not stop at the sole. It sits in the arch, around the ankle bone, up into the lower calf. Then you fill a plastic tub, put your feet in, and the water comes up over your toes and stops. The bit that hurts is still in the air.
That is the whole problem with the moulded plastic spa. It is wide and flat because it has to house a motor and a heating element under the floor, so there is nowhere left to put depth. You get a vibration you did not ask for and a soak that never covers the ankle.
This is a barrel. It is nearly ten inches deep, it has no motor in the way, and the water goes up past the ankle bone where you actually want it.
The size, given properly, because it decides everything
It is a tapered barrel, so it has three measurements and not one. Quoting a single number for a shape like this is how people end up returning things.
All three are OUTSIDE measurements, taken off the manufacturer's own dimension drawing. 15.75 in (40 cm) across the top, at the widest point of the rolled rim. 12.2 in (31 cm) across the base. 9.84 in (25 cm) tall. The wall has real thickness, so the space inside is a little smaller than the outside figures — we do not hold a measured internal figure and we are not going to estimate one.
In practice: both adult feet go in side by side and sit flat on the bottom without stacking or angling. Fill it and the water clears the ankle bone. The mouth is wider than the base, so getting your feet in and out is easy even though the soak itself is deep.
It does not fold, it does not adjust, and there is no size to choose. This is the only size it comes in.
The roller plate lifts straight out
A separate roller plate sits loose on the floor of the barrel — a moulded tray holding four ridged cylinders in two rows, one row under each foot. Roll your soles back and forth over them while you soak, or press down and let them sit under the arch.
It is not fixed in and it is not part of the barrel. Lift it out and you have a plain deep tub for a straight soak, or for soaking with salts, or for washing it properly. Drop it back in when you want it. That is worth knowing before you buy, because the listing title calls it built-in and it is not — it is better than built-in, because you can take it out.
There is no motor turning the rollers. You move your feet; the rollers turn.
A cover board, not a sealed lid
A flat wooden board comes with it, cut in a crescent so one edge curves away. Lay it across the mouth and it covers most of the opening while leaving a gap — you can rest your feet in with the board still on, or set it fully across while the water is standing.
Be clear about what it is: a loose board that sits on top. It does not clamp, latch or seal, and it is not watertight. It is there to cover the water, and it doubles as somewhere to stand the roller plate when it is out.
Built like a barrel, because it is one
The wall is made of narrow wooden staves set upright and butted edge to edge all the way round, then pulled tight by two steel hoops — one high on the body, one low. That is cooperage, the same method as a barrel, and it is what keeps a wooden vessel water-tight without glue doing the work.
The base is a solid disc set up inside the ring of stave ends, so the stave ends form a shallow foot and the base panel itself sits just clear of the floor. The top edge is a thick rounded lip, wide enough to grip when you carry it and smooth enough to rest a calf against.
It is heavy before you add water, and properly heavy once you have. That is the honest trade for solid wood over moulded plastic.
Be straight about what this is
Nothing plugs in. There is no heater, no thermostat, no pump, no timer and no cord. You fill it from the tap or the kettle at the temperature you want, and you top it up if it cools. If you want a machine that holds a set temperature, this is not that and will disappoint you.
It is a comfort product, not a treatment. Soaking your feet in warm water is pleasant and it is relaxing. It does not treat, cure or manage any medical condition. If you have diabetes, neuropathy, poor sensation in your feet, an open wound or a circulatory diagnosis, hot-water foot soaking is a question for your clinician before it is a question for us.
It is real wood and it needs drying. Empty it after use and let it dry out rather than leaving it standing full. Wood left permanently wet will not thank you. Do not put it in a dishwasher and do not leave it soaking overnight.
It is bulky to store. Nearly sixteen inches across the rim and ten inches tall, and it does not collapse. Work out where it lives before it arrives.

Questions people ask first
Will my feet fit?
For almost everyone, yes — both adult feet go in side by side and sit flat, which is what the photographs show rather than something we are asserting. The honest caveat: our figures (15.75 in top, 12.2 in base, 9.84 in tall) are all external, and the interior is smaller by the thickness of the wall, which the manufacturer does not document. So if you take a very large shoe size, treat 12.2 in as a ceiling you will not get all of, not as your usable floor. If it matters to you, message us before ordering and we will get it measured.
Does it keep the water hot?
It has no heater, so it cannot hold a temperature. Solid wood is a slower conductor than thin plastic and the cover board reduces what escapes off the surface, but we hold no test data putting a number on that, so we are not going to quote you one. Fill it hot and top it up from the kettle if you want a long soak.
Is the roller fixed in place?
No. It lifts straight out. Take it out for a plain soak or to clean under it.
What is it made of?
A solid wood barrel of upright staves bound with two steel hoops, a solid wood cover board, and a moulded roller plate. Beyond that we do not hold a certified material breakdown from the manufacturer, so we are not going to invent one.
How do I look after it?
Tip it out after you use it, wipe it round and stand it somewhere it can dry. Do not store it full and do not put it through a dishwasher.
