What this actually is
It is the bucket. You do not supply one.
The title reads like a seat you clamp onto something. It is not. The whole thing is one object: seven tall plastic panels hinged edge to edge into a drum, with a molded seat and a hinged lid on top. You line the inside with a bag, use it, tie the bag off, and fold the drum flat.
There is no tank, no water, no pump, no chemical cartridge and nothing to plug in. It does not flush, and nothing about it is plumbed. What it replaces is squatting behind a tree, and it is honestly good at that.
The number this page used to state flatly
Where the weight figure comes from
This page carried a metric-only capacity figure on a US store with nothing behind it. Here is the whole of what we actually know, because you are about to sit on this.
- 330 lb (150 kg) is the supplier's figure. It comes from the supplier's own listing text for this design. No test standard is cited with it, no certificate exists in our file, and nobody at chigous has load-tested one.
- Retailers of the same design do not agree on it. One European seller of an identical seven-panel folding toilet publishes a noticeably higher figure than 330 lb, and lists a different product weight as well. When the same part carries two different ratings, neither one is a measurement.
- So treat it as a manufacturer's claim, not a rating. If you are near the top of that number, or if you need a load figure you can rely on for someone with limited mobility, this is not the product to trust for it and we would rather say so here than take the order.
We have also taken off a line that turned that unverified capacity into a promise about which family members could use it. A number we cannot check does not get to do that work.
Sitting on it without incident
Almost everything that goes wrong with a folding toilet goes wrong in the first five seconds, before any weight is on it.
Flat, firm, level. Gravel, a tent floor, a hard verge. Not soft sand, not a slope, not a wobbly picnic bench. One buyer's whole review is a warning about level ground.
Check the wall is locked open all the way round. Pull it out to full height and run a hand round the panel seam. A partly-collapsed panel is the failure mode this design has.
Sit, do not stand. Never use it as a step, a stool to reach something, or a table. It is a low seat and nothing else, and standing on the rim puts the load in the worst possible place.
The seat sits about 11.8 in off the ground, which is roughly five inches lower than the toilet at home. If you have knee or hip trouble, that drop is the thing to think about before the weight figure is.
Bags, and what is actually in your box
This is the one part of the listing we cannot close out honestly, so we are going to say so rather than guess.
- Our own pack list says the toilet and nothing else. That is what the supplier's line item states.
- The supplier's own pack photograph shows more. A drawstring storage bag and a roll of liner bags sit beside the toilet in it, and other sellers of this design ship both.
- So plan on supplying your own bags. Any tall kitchen bin liner fits over the rim. If a storage bag and a roll turn up in your box, that is a bonus rather than something we promised you.
A handful of absorbent gel sachets, cat litter or sawdust in the bag before you start makes emptying it very much less unpleasant. None of that ships with the toilet either.
The plain facts
Two colors, gray and black, and they are the same object in two finishes - same size, same panels, same seat. The retired copy oversold how packable it is. This is a rigid slab a little larger than a laptop, and it travels in a trunk rather than on your back, which is what buyers keep saying in the reviews.
Good at one job, and honest about the rest
For a car, a van, a festival, a fishing morning or a house with the water off, this is a clean, private, five-second answer that folds away afterwards. It is not a backpacking item, it is not plumbed, and its weight figure is the manufacturer's rather than a tested one. If all three of those sit right with you, it is a good buy.
