A soft bear-shaped pad that makes a big seat fit a small child

This is a one-piece padded seat liner cut in the shape of a cartoon bear. You lay it into a stroller seat or over a dining chair, tie the straps at the top around the seat back, and an adult-sized seat turns into one a toddler fits: a padded bear head behind their own head, two padded flaps either side of their chest, and a webbing harness that keeps a wriggler upright instead of sliding down sideways.

It is fabric, foam and webbing, and nothing else. No shell, no frame, no plastic base, no metal. It folds in half like a thick towel and lives in the bottom of a diaper bag — which is the whole point of it: the chair at grandma's house, the cafe chair with no straps, the rented stroller on vacation.

Please read before you buy: this is not a car seat.

It is not a child restraint and it must never be used in a moving car, van, taxi, RV or any other motor vehicle — not in place of a car seat, and not alongside one. It has no rigid shell, no crash structure and no vehicle anchorage, and it is not certified to FMVSS 213 or any other child restraint standard. Never route a vehicle seat belt through it or over it. Use it in strollers, dining chairs and other stationary seats. In a vehicle, use a proper car seat certified for your child's height and weight.

Where it works

Strollers. Lays into the seat and adds padding at the head and sides for a child who has outgrown the newborn insert but still slumps sideways the moment they nod off.
Dining chairs and cafe chairs. Gives an adult chair a back and sides that fit a small child. Useful where there is no high chair, or the high chair has no straps of its own.
Visiting and traveling. It weighs almost nothing and folds flat, so it goes in a bag rather than taking up the trunk.

Where it does not belong

Any moving motor vehicle. Cars, vans, taxis, buses, RVs. Use a certified car seat.
Unsupervised use. The harness helps a child stay upright and seated. It is not a device to leave a child alone in, and it will not stop a determined toddler climbing out.
Sleeping. It is not a crib, cot or sleep surface. Move a sleeping baby onto a flat, firm surface.
Any seat it cannot be tied to. With no seat back to knot the top straps around, it will shift under the child.

Fit — the honest version

It comes in one size, and there are two things worth saying plainly before you order.

The pad does not resizeThere is no small version. On a very young baby it will look and feel oversized, because the panel is the same size whoever sits on it.

The straps have a limitThe webbing adjusts through sliders, but only within the length that is sewn in. It will not cinch down indefinitely on a very small child.

Who it suits best: a child who already sits up unsupported and holds their own head steady, and who is still small enough that an adult-sized seat swallows them. A baby too young to sit up unaided is too small for it; a child big enough to sit properly in an adult chair no longer needs it. Measure your stroller seat or chair against the sizes above before you order.

Looking after it

Wipe the mesh with a damp cloth and a little mild soap, then let it air-dry fully.
Do not tumble dry and do not iron — the sponge padding and the webbing will not take heat.
Check the buckles and the stitching around the webbing now and then, and stop using it if any stitching has pulled or a buckle no longer clicks firmly shut.
