A quieter spin, and a washer that stays where you put it.
These are four anti-vibration feet for a washing machine. Each machine foot sits down into a cup with a grid well, and each cup stands on a soft black rubber suction base. Together they soak up some of the shake from the spin cycle and give the machine a grip on the floor, so it hums instead of thumping and does not creep across the room.
They also work under a dryer, a fridge, or furniture legs that rock or scuff the floor.
How they work

A washer shakes most on the spin, when the drum is heavy and turning fast. On a bare floor that movement goes straight into the tiles or boards, which is where the drumming noise comes from, and it can nudge the machine along a little every load.
Each pad puts two things between the foot and the floor. The gray cup holds the machine's leveling foot in its grid well so it cannot slide off, and the soft black base grips the floor through a ringed suction face. The result is less noise and less wandering. How much less depends on your machine, your floor and how evenly the load is balanced.
The base
Soft rubber underneath.
Turn a pad over and you find a round black rubber base with concentric rings and a small tab on its edge. Pressed onto a smooth, clean floor, the base grips; lift the tab and it lets go when you want to move the machine to clean behind it.
The suction works best on smooth, hard floors such as tile, sealed concrete, vinyl or laminate. On rough or textured floors it still grips through the rubber, but it cannot seal.

Three steps, a few minutes.
Tip it back
Unplug the machine, then tip it back a little so the front feet lift off the floor. A second pair of hands makes this easier.
Foot in the cup
Set a pad under each foot, rubber side down, and lower the machine so each foot drops into the grid well of its cup. Repeat at the back.
Level it again
The pads lift the machine slightly, so check it with a level and adjust the machine's own feet until it sits flat and does not rock.

Worth knowing before you buy
The honest small print.
- Check your feet fit the cup. The top of each pad is 2.4 in (6 cm) across and the foot sits in the well inside it, so the foot must be narrower than that. Round screw-in leveling feet, the kind most washers have, are what these are made for; wide square feet, pedestals and wheeled bases are not.
- An unlevel or overloaded machine will still shake. The pads reduce vibration and walking; they do not fix a drum that is badly out of balance. Level the machine and spread heavy items like bedding evenly.
- The machine sits a little higher. Allow for that under a counter or a stacked unit, and re-level after fitting.
- Keep the floor and bases clean. Dust and lint stop the rubber gripping. Wipe both before you fit them and whenever you move the machine.
