The part of your back you cannot reach is not a skill problem

Two blade cartridges, guarded by a comb

The head carries two replaceable blade cartridges seated side by side, each one a slim bar with a fine comb of teeth running its full length. The comb sits proud of the edge, so the blade meets hair rather than being pressed flat into skin, and the head covers about the width of a palm in one pass.

With the handle folded away you can also hook your fingers straight through the oval window in the head and use it as a grip, which is the easier hold for shoulders, arms and chest.

Its water-resistant construction allows you to use it wet or dry, whether in the shower or at the sink. Rinse the head under the tap and shake it dry when you are done.

Before each pass

It is a blade on skin, and it is being used somewhere you cannot see. A few seconds of care is worth it.

• Check both cartridges are clipped in flat and square before you start.
• Replace a blade that drags, pulls or looks damaged. A dull blade is what causes most of the tugging people blame on the tool.
• Work around moles and skin tags rather than over them, and skip any area of broken, sunburnt or irritated skin.
• Rinse the head under running water after use and let it dry rather than putting it away wet.
• Store it out of reach of children.
