A costume that switches on
This is a black full-face Halloween mask with glowing X eyes and a stitched grin drawn across it in thin light-up wire. Switched off, it is a glossy dark mask. Switch it on and the lines glow neon-bright, so the face reads from across a dark room, a street or a festival field.
Pull on a dark hoodie and it is a whole costume on its own. It also works for parties, raves, cosplay and haunted-house nights.
How it lights up
- EL wire, not bulbs. The glowing lines are electroluminescent wire, which lights evenly along its whole length instead of in dots.
- One button, three modes. Press to cycle through steady glow, slow flash and fast flash, then off.
- Battery box on a cable. A small battery box hangs from the mask on a thin cable, long enough to tuck into a pocket or waistband.
- Runs on two AA batteries. Batteries are not included, so pick some up before the night.
Five glow colors
Choose Green, Red, Blue, Purple or Orange. The mask is the same black shell in every color; only the color of the glowing lines changes. For a group costume, pick a different color for each person.
Fit, and what to expect wearing it
One size fits most adults. An adjustable elastic strap holds it on and a foam pad sits at the forehead so the shell is not pressing on your face.
It is a solid plastic mask, so it gets warm and does not breathe like fabric. Take it off for breaks, and expect narrower vision than usual in dark places. Do not wear it while driving or cycling.
Looking after it
- Keep it dry. The wire and battery box are not waterproof.
- Do not fold or crush the wire. Store the mask flat, and take the batteries out between uses.
- Stop using it if the wire's coating splits or any bare wire shows.
- Keep batteries away from small children. This is a costume accessory for adults, not a toy.
