Two ghosts, a little fire, and a wall outlet
A small molded ornament that plugs straight into a standard US wall socket. Two round white ghosts sit either side of a stack of logs, each holding a twig with a marshmallow on the end, and in the middle of the log pile a flame-shaped bulb glows warm orange and flickers.
There is a slide switch on the plug housing. That is the whole control set — on, off, and nothing else. No remote, no timer, no dusk sensor, no color change. It is a decorative accent light, and it is worth being clear about that before anything else on this page.

The flame is a bulb
Nothing on this ornament burns. The flicker comes from a small teardrop-shaped glass bulb sitting in the middle of the molded logs, with a flame-shaped element inside it that glows orange. There is no wax, no wick, no oil, no scent and no smoke. The words campfire and bonfire in the name describe the scene it depicts, not anything the product does.
We are not stating the bulb technology, its wattage or its running cost. The supplier does not document any of it, and we would rather leave a gap on this page than fill it with a number we cannot stand behind. An earlier version of this description made claims about the bulb and about what it costs to run; those have been taken out. If the specific bulb type matters to your purchase, please treat this listing as not answering that question.
We have not been able to verify a UL, ETL or CSA safety listing for this item. The standard that covers this product class in the United States is UL 1786, Direct Plug-In Nightlights. The supplier does not state a listing and we could not find one on file. Plug-in night lights from several brands have been recalled in recent years for overheating, so this is a real question rather than a formality. Our guidance is to switch it off when you leave the house or go to sleep, to use it in a socket you can see, and to buy a listed night light instead if a certification mark is something you require.
Smaller than most people picture it
This is the single most common surprise with ornaments like this one, and it is the thing worth checking before you buy. It is a palm-sized figurine, not a lamp. It will not light a room, and it is not meant to. What it does is put a small warm pool of light at baseboard height, enough to find a doorway or a light switch in the dark.
Dimensions are the supplier's own measured figures for the whole ornament, base edge to base edge and top of the ghost down to the bottom of the plug housing.
What it will not do
- It will not light a room. Treat it as an accent glow at floor level, in the same bracket as a night light, not as a lamp you could read by.
- It does not turn itself on. There is no light sensor and no timer. You use the slide switch.
- It is for indoor use only. It is an unsealed plug-in ornament. Keep it away from porches, bathrooms, sinks and anywhere it could get wet.
- It will not run on batteries or a USB port. It needs a live wall socket, which also means the socket you choose has to be somewhere you are happy to see it all season.
- It is not a toy. It is a mains-powered decorative object with a glass bulb in it, and it should be placed out of reach of small children and pets.
Where it actually works
A hallway outlet is the obvious one — the glow sits low, marks the route to the bathroom, and reads as decoration rather than as a utility light. A landing, the wall beside a console table, a spare bedroom, or the socket behind a bookshelf all do the same job.
The one thing to think about is the outlet itself. The ornament stands proud of the wall and takes the whole plate, so a socket behind a sofa or under a desk will hide most of what you bought. Somewhere you walk past is better than somewhere tidy.
