The shadow you keep leaning around is your own hand

A single overhead lamp puts the light behind whatever you are holding, so the tip of the brush, the base of the lash, the last millimeter of a cuticle line all sit in the shadow of your own fingers. You tilt your head. You move the lamp. You do it again on the next nail. An arc that reaches over the work from both sides at once takes that away, because the light is coming from everywhere along the curve rather than from one point above you.

Why the shape does the work

The arc runs a continuous strip of 364 LEDs along its full inner face, so the light arrives from the left, from directly above and from the right at the same time. Anything you put underneath - a hand on a cushion, a client's face on a treatment bed, a stencil on a tattoo transfer - is lit from several angles at once, and the hard shadow edge that a single lamp casts simply has nowhere to fall.

It also gets the light out of the client's eyes. The glow faces down and inward from the curve rather than shining straight at whoever is lying underneath it, which matters when you are working on lashes or brows and they will be there for two hours.

Warm through cool, and dimmable

Color temperature runs from 3000K, which is a warm domestic yellow, up to 6000K, a cool daylight white that is the honest setting for judging color. Brightness runs from full down to roughly 15%. Both adjust in small steps rather than jumping between fixed presets, so you can set the light to the work in front of you: cool and bright for matching polish or checking a blend, warmer and lower for a long lash set where the client is looking at your ceiling.

What it will not do

It will not cure gel. This is a work light, not a curing lamp - curing needs a UV/LED lamp at specific wavelengths, and this arc puts out ordinary warm-to-cool white light. It sits alongside your curing lamp on the desk; it does not replace it.

Sizing it to your desk before you order

Measure first. The arc spans 28 in (72 cm) across the desk between the outsides of its two feet, and stands 13.5 in (34.5 cm) at the apex - enough headroom for a hand rest and a client's hand underneath, and enough width to cover a full manicure station. It is not a folding lamp: you assemble it once with the two feet and the screws supplied, and it stays that way. If your station is narrow, or you need something that packs into a kit bag between mobile appointments, this is the wrong shape for you.

Each foot is a flat plate that lies on the desk with a non-slip pad underneath, so nothing clamps to the edge and nothing has to be screwed into your furniture. Power comes from the wall on a 110-240V supply, and the plug type is set by the option you choose above.
