A fire-breathing dragon that breathes water

A painted resin dragon with a bronze-look finish, perched on a rock and about 12 in (30 cm) at its widest. Feed its built-in tube from a garden hose or a small fountain pump, and a thin stream of water pours from its open mouth into your pond, basin or water planter.

It is sized for the edge of a small pond, a patio wall, a rock garden or a half-barrel planter. Think tabletop ornament, not life-size statue: the photos below show it at its real scale beside ferns, pebbles and a herb pot.

Before you order

Three things to know

Painted resin, not metal

A bronze-look paint finish over cast resin. It will not rust, and it is light enough to move by hand, so set it on a level stone where it cannot tip.

Water, not fire

The fire-breathing part is the sculpted pose. There is no flame, bulb or mister: the dragon pours a stream of water. For a warm glow after dark, aim your own garden spotlight at the stream.

Bring a water source

No pump, hose or adapter comes in the box. Connect the tube at the back of the base to a garden hose with an adapter, or to a small fountain pump in your pond or basin.

Setup

Running in three steps

Place it

Set the dragon on a level spot with its mouth over the water: a pond edge, a basin rim or a water planter.

Connect water

Push the tube at the back of the base onto a hose adapter or the outlet of a small fountain pump.

Set the flow

Open the tap or turn the pump down until the stream lands in the water instead of beside it.

Running it from a pump? Plug the pump into a GFCI-protected outdoor outlet. Before freezing weather, drain the tube and bring the dragon indoors.
