Electric lip plumper · suction lip plumping tool

A fuller-looking pout in a few minutes, with nothing injected and nothing applied.

You press the soft red cup flat against your closed lips, switch it on, and a small motor draws a gentle vacuum inside the cup. The suction pulls a little extra blood into the lip tissue, so your lips look fuller, rounder and more defined for a while afterwards.

That is the whole mechanism, and it is the same idea as the manual lip pumps people have used for years, with a motor doing the pumping so the pull stays even. It is a temporary look for a night out or a photo, not a change to your lips.

Using it

Seal, a short burst, release.

Put on a little lip balm first so the silicone seals smoothly. Close your lips, press the cup flat so the rim sits evenly all the way around your mouth, and press the button. Hold it there for a short burst, switch off, and let the seal go by easing a finger under the rim rather than pulling the device away.

Start with one or two short bursts and look in the mirror before you do any more. The look builds quickly, and the most common way to get it wrong is to keep going because the first round felt like nothing.

Read this before your first go

Too much suction bruises.

Suction on lips is not risk-free, and the risk is simple: overdo it and you get bruising, tenderness, or small broken capillaries around the lip line that take days to fade. One of our own reviewers says as much, keeping her sessions short and spaced out "to avoid the bruise".

So keep sessions short, keep the pull gentle, and stop straight away at any pain, burning, numbness or tingling. Skip it entirely on cracked, chapped, sunburned or broken lips, on a cold sore, within a few weeks of lip filler or any cosmetic procedure, and if you bruise easily, take blood thinners or have a bleeding disorder. Not for children.

What to expect

A temporary look, honestly described.

How long it lasts

Hours, not days

The fuller look fades as the blood settles back. Our own reviewer puts it at about half an hour; how long it lasts for you depends on your lips and how you use it.

How much it shows

Subtle to noticeable

Think a softer, rounder, slightly bigger lip rather than a filler result. Several gentle rounds look more natural than one hard one.

What it is not

Not permanent

It does not add volume that stays, and it is not a substitute for filler. If a lasting change is what you want, this is not the product.

Size and charging

About the length of your hand, charged over USB.

The body is a smooth white wand you hold like a hairbrush handle, with one button on the front and a small light above it. It charges over the included USB cable from a laptop, power bank or any USB charger you already own; there is no wall plug in the box.

The manufacturer rates it at about 40 minutes to charge and up to about 30 minutes of use per charge, which is a great many short sessions.

Worth knowing before you buy

What we will not tell you.

  • We do not say it makes your lips permanently bigger. The look comes from temporary swelling and fades. This page used to suggest otherwise; that line is gone.
  • We do not say it is risk-free. Bruising and small broken capillaries are the known downside of too much suction, which is why the use guidance above is not optional.
  • It is not a medical device and not a treatment. It is a cosmetic tool for how your lips look for a few hours. If you have any concern about your lips or your circulation, ask a doctor before using any suction device on your face.
  • Keep it clean. Wipe the silicone cup after every use and let it dry. Do not rinse the body under the tap or submerge it; nothing here is rated as waterproof.
  • The battery is sealed in. When it stops holding a charge the unit is finished. Recycle it as electronics, not in household waste.
