Two-tier counter bread cabinet
Two separate compartments, each behind its own fluted door
This is a small counter cabinet rather than a lidded bin. Two stacked compartments sit one above the other, divided by a fixed shelf, and each has its own door that drops forward on hinges and lifts back up by a round knob. The doors carry ribbed translucent panels, so you can see roughly what is inside without opening anything.
The panels are faced in light bamboo on the inside and finished matte dark gray on the outside, so what stands on your counter is a dark box and what you see when you open it is pale wood.
How it is built
Two fixed tiers
The shelf between the compartments is fixed. There is no removable tray, no sliding lid and no cutting board - both doors are hinged flaps.
Flip-down doors
Each door is hinged along its lower edge and swings down and forward. Metal butt hinges, one round knob per door.
Flat panel construction
Thin flat panels screwed together with Phillips screws at the corners, on a plinth base with cut-out feet. Bamboo-faced inside, painted outside.
Read this before you buy
Three things we are not able to tell you yet
- We are not publishing a size for it. The two figures we were given do not agree with the supplier's own drawing - the drawing shows a cabinet a little wider than it is tall, while its labels describe one twice as wide as it is tall. Until we have measured a unit ourselves we would rather say nothing than print a number that might be wrong. If loaf fit is the deciding factor for you, wait for us to publish real measurements.
- We hold no food-contact declaration for the inside. The interior faces are bamboo-finished panels, and nothing we have been given states what is behind that face or what finish is on it. Until that is confirmed we suggest keeping bread in its own bag or wrapper inside the cabinet rather than resting it on the bare panel.
- We make no freshness claim. This page previously said the design let air circulate and kept bread fresher for longer. There is no vent, hole or grille anywhere on this cabinet in any photograph of it, and no test behind that claim, so we have removed it. It is a cabinet that keeps bread covered, out of the light and off the counter.
What it is good for
Keeping loaves, rolls and pastries covered and together in one place instead of spread across a counter, with two compartments so different things can be kept apart, and a door you can open with one hand. Several buyers use the upper tier for fruit and the lower for bread.
The top surface is flat and the cabinet is stable, so jars and canisters can stand on it.
