A soft door for a doorway that has none

This is a pleated fabric curtain that closes off a doorway, a closet or an alcove, then folds up like an accordion when you push it aside. Close it for privacy and to shut out most of the light. Open it, and the pleats stack neatly against one side of the frame.

It hangs from a round rod on the metal hooks that come with it, and small magnets in its edge hold it closed against the door frame. There is no hinge to fit and no track to cut, and with a tension rod there is nothing to drill.

Know what you are getting

A fabric curtain, not a rigid door. The pleats are sewn into one layer of thick, linen-look fabric. It does not latch or lock, and it will sway in a draft.
It blocks most light, not all of it. It hangs in front of the opening, so some light shows at the top, down the edges and under the hem. It will not make a room pitch dark.
It is not soundproof. You will still hear a TV or voices through a single layer of fabric.
The rod is not included. Use a tension rod inside the door frame or a curtain rod above it. The hooks need a round rod.

Choose your size

Sizes run from 31.5 in to 118.1 in wide and from 70.9 in to 94.5 in tall. Measure before you order:

Width. Measure across the opening and choose a curtain at least that wide. A few inches extra means the pleats do not have to pull flat to close it. If you are between two sizes, go wider.
Height. Measure from where the rod will sit down to the floor, and choose the height just under that number so the hem clears the floor. Allow a little for the hooks, which hang the curtain just below the rod.
Standard doors. A standard US interior door is 80 in tall, so it needs the 78.7 in height or taller. The 70.9 in height suits closets and openings under 6 ft.

How it hangs

Fit a round rod (not included): a tension rod just inside the top of the door frame, or a curtain rod mounted above it.
Hook it on. Put a hook through each metal-rimmed hole along the top of the curtain, then hang the hooks on the rod.
Set the magnets. Close the curtain and stick a metal disc to the door frame wherever a magnet in the curtain's edge meets it.
Fold it away. Push the curtain to one side and wrap the snap strap around the pleats to keep the stack tidy.

Doorways without doors, between a hallway and a bedroom, an office or a kitchen.
Open closets and wardrobe alcoves, to hide the clutter and fold out of the way while you get dressed.
Laundry nooks, pantries and storage shelves, in the house, the garage or the basement.
Room dividers, to screen off a sleeping corner in a studio, wherever a rod can span the gap.
