A tablet stand still puts the tablet on your desk

That is the whole problem with the propped-up wedge. It occupies the space in front of you that your keyboard and your notebook were already fighting over, and it sets the screen low, so you spend the afternoon looking down at it. Then you push it back to make room, and now the screen is too far away to read.

This one does not sit on the desk at all. A metal clamp screws down over the front edge, the way a desk lamp mounts, and a three-section arm carries the screen up into the air in front of you — at whatever height your eyes already are.

It takes up no desk surface, because it hangs off the edge

The C-clamp hooks down over the lip of the desk and tightens underneath with a thumbscrew. Everything after that is in the air. There is no base, no weighted disc and no footprint to work around — the desk under the screen stays completely clear, and because the stand is bolted to the furniture rather than balanced on it, a knocked elbow does not send it over.

Three sections of arm, so the screen comes to you

The arm is built from three flat metal bars — about 7.9 in, 6.3 in and 8.1 in — hinged on brushed pivot discs, roughly 22 in of arm in total. Folded in, it holds the screen close for reading. Opened out, it reaches over a keyboard, across a kitchen counter or in over the side of a bed. Each joint sets independently, so height and viewing angle are two separate adjustments rather than one compromise.

It turns a full circle on the clamp

A knurled swivel disc sits on top of the clamp plate and rotates through 360 degrees, and the cradle turns at its own joint as well. Portrait for a recipe or a script, landscape for a film or a video call — the same setup does both without unclamping anything.

What it holds, and what it does not

The spring cradle grips the device top and bottom on rubber-tipped jaws. The supplier rates it for anything from a 4.7 in phone up to a 12.9 in tablet, which covers most phones, most tablets and a small portable monitor.

Fold it down when you are finished

The three bars fold back against one another and drop flat against the side of the desk, cradle at the bottom, still clamped and ready. You are not unscrewing it and finding somewhere to put it every evening.
