A painted wooden star, ringed in ribbon
Most patriotic wreaths at this size are a plastic ring with silk flowers wired on. This one is built the way a craft-fair wreath is built: a flat wooden star plaque at the center, painted with a navy star field and faded red and cream bands, with a deep ruff of folded fabric ribbon layered around it — coarse burlap, stars-and-stripes print, navy polka dot, red and cream stripe. That is why it reads as handmade from ten feet away, and it is also the reason for everything on the rest of this page.
How big it actually is
17.7 in (45 cm) across the outside — the full circle, measured over the ribbon tips, not just the wooden star in the middle. The supplier's own dimension drawing gives 45 cm both ways, height and width, because the finished shape is round.
Ignore the "11.7 x 17.7 inches" that used to be in the spec block on this page. It contradicted the supplier drawing and we could not find anything on the product that measures 11.7 in. There is one dimension worth knowing and it is the one above.
For a feel: it is about as wide as an adult's shoulders, and on a standard front door it fills roughly the middle third. That is a statement piece rather than a small accent.
What it is made of
There is no hanger, hook or ribbon loop in the box. The package is the wreath on its own. Use an over-the-door hook, a wreath hanger or a nail — whatever you already hang things on — and check it takes the weight before you leave it.
Where to hang it — read this before you buy
Indoors: anywhere you like. Hallway wall, above a mantel, on an interior door, as a table centerpiece for a cookout. Nothing about it objects to being inside.
Outdoors: under cover only. A deep covered porch, a sheltered entryway, a storm-door interior. Not on an exposed door that catches driving rain, and not somewhere that bakes in full afternoon sun all season.
Why we are being careful about this. Burlap and printed ribbon are fabric, and the star is painted wood. Fabric holds water, and printed ribbon fades. The old version of this page said the wreath "resists fading" and was "built to withstand the elements" — there is no weather testing, no UV rating and no water-resistance figure behind either statement, so we have taken them off rather than repeat them. Fading on a sunny door is the single most common complaint in this whole product category, and we would rather you hang it somewhere sheltered than find that out yourself.
Bring it in ahead of a storm, and let it dry flat and fully if it ever does get wet.
It is not only a Fourth of July wreath
The design has no date, no numerals and no lettering on it anywhere — it is a star and a set of red, white and blue ribbons. That means the season it works in is a good deal longer than one day in July:
- Memorial Day through Labor Day. Most people who own one leave it up for the whole stretch rather than putting it out for a single weekend.
- Flag Day and Veterans Day. Same colors, same message, no reason to take it down.
- Election nights, naturalization parties, homecomings, military send-offs and returns.
- Year-round in an Americana or farmhouse interior, where the burlap and worn-paint finish sit perfectly happily alongside plain wood and linen.

Handling and storage
- Lift it by the frame behind the ribbons, not by a ribbon loop. The loops are decorative.
- Ribbon loops flatten in the box. Fluff them out by hand when it arrives — they open up in a minute or two and it changes how full the wreath looks.
- Dust it with a soft dry brush or a hairdryer on cool. Do not wash it, do not soak it, and do not put it in a machine.
- Store it flat, or hanging, in a large box or bag — never squashed under anything, because crushed ribbon does not fully recover.
What we are not claiming
The previous version of this page made several promises about durability that nothing on file supports. They are gone rather than softened.
- Not weatherproof, and not fade-proof. "Resists fading, ensuring the colors stay rich and vibrant even in direct sunlight" was on this page. There is no UV or colorfastness data behind it.
- No "all-season use" claim. It is wood and fabric. Season after season outdoors on an exposed door is exactly what it is least suited to.
- Not handmade to order. The video calls the ribbons handcrafted; what we can honestly say is that they are hand-folded fabric ribbon rather than molded plastic.
- One wreath, not a pair. One of the old gallery photos showed a matching wreath on each half of a double door. One order is one wreath. That photo has been removed.
- No stated weight, and no hanger. We have no weight figure from the supplier, so check whatever you hang it from rather than assuming.
Buy something else instead if
- Your front door is fully exposed to sun and rain with no porch or overhang. Look for an all-weather wreath in molded polyester or metal.
- You want something small and subtle. This one is shoulder-width and busy by design.
- You need it to survive being stored crushed in a tight bin with the rest of the holiday decorations. Ribbon needs room.
