Small frosted stars on a wire finer than a shoelace
Each star is a molded piece of translucent plastic about the width of a thumbnail, with one LED sitting inside it. The stars are threaded along a clear plastic wire so fine it almost disappears against a wall, which is the whole point: lit, you see a line of floating stars and not the cable holding them up.
They come in three light colors and four lengths, and the strand is soft enough to loop round a bannister, tape along a shelf edge or drape in swags without kinking.

This is an indoor light
We are not selling it as an outdoor light any more, and we want to be direct about why. Every photograph the supplier provides for this item, and every second of our own video of it, was shot inside a room: a desk, a shelf, a bed, a wall with picture frames. There is no ingress-protection rating published for it anywhere we could find, the wire is thin clear plastic rather than weather cable, and the power connection at the end of the strand is not a sealed one. An earlier version of this page positioned it for open-air use. That was not supported, and it has been taken out.
Our guidance: bedrooms, shelves, mantels, party tables, marquees, stairwells, a covered porch if it stays dry. Not rain, not sprinklers, not open decking, not a tree in the yard.
There is no remote control. No remote is included with any option, and none is offered as an add-on. The page title and the search description used to mention one; they no longer do. If a remote matters to you, this is not the product to buy.
There is no mains plug version. Earlier copy on this page listed 110 V and 220 V plug options. Those options do not exist and never appeared in the dropdown. Every option here is either battery powered or ends in a USB plug — nothing else.
Four lengths
Lengths are the total length of the strand. The star counts below are the supplier's own figures for each length; we have not counted them ourselves, so treat them as approximate.
A rough guide: 5 ft dresses a single shelf or a mirror, 10 ft runs the length of a headboard, 20 ft crosses a wall in two swags, and 33 ft is the one to pick for a stairwell, a marquee pole or a whole window frame.
Reading the dropdown
The first dropdown does two jobs at once, which is worth explaining because it is not obvious. It sets the light color and how the strand is powered.
- Warm White, Cool White, Multi-color. These run on batteries. The supplier states AAA cells, and they are not included. We do not have a supplier photograph of the battery holder itself, so we are not stating its shape or how many cells it takes.
- Warm White with USB, Cool White with USB, Multi-color with USB. Same three light colors, but the strand ends in a USB connector instead of a battery holder. You supply the USB port — a phone charger, a laptop, a power bank, a wall adapter you already own. No adapter is included.
The second dropdown is length. Any light color pairs with any length.
The three light colors
- Warm white. A soft yellow-white, close to a candle or an old filament bulb. The one that makes a room look cozy rather than lit, and the safest choice for bedrooms and dinner tables.
- Cool white. A crisp blue-white. Reads cleaner and more modern against white walls, and it is the one that looks like frost or snow in winter arrangements.
- Multi-color. The stars cycle through red, blue, green, yellow and pink along the strand. Louder, and the obvious pick for a child's room, a party or a Christmas tree.
What it will not do
- It will not light a room. These are decorative accents. A whole 33 ft strand throws roughly as much usable light as a couple of tea lights.
- It will not survive weather. No ingress-protection rating is published for it. Keep it dry.
- It does not come with a remote. There is no remote in the box and no remote option.
- It does not come with power. No batteries with the battery options, no USB adapter with the USB options.
- It will not run off a wall socket on its own. The USB options need a USB port; there is no two-pin or three-pin plug version.
- It is not a toy. It is a fine wire with small plastic parts on it, and it should be kept out of reach of babies and pets who chew.
Where they actually work
The best placement is one where the wire has something to disappear against: the top edge of a picture frame, the underside of a shelf, the join between a wall and a ceiling, the inside of a glass jar. Tiny clear adhesive hooks every couple of feet hold the wire without sagging and come off paint cleanly.
The one to avoid is stretching the strand tight across an open span. The wire is springy and wants to curl, so a tight straight line fights it and shows every kink. Loose swags always look better and hide the cable.
In the box
- One star light strand, in the light color, power type and length you choose. That is the entire contents.
No batteries, no USB power adapter, no remote control, no hooks, no clips and no second strand. Photography for lights in this category is often shot with baskets, books, flowers and dried arrangements around them; those are the photographer's props and none of them ship with this item.
