The hard part was never the walking
It is the six inches before it. You are sitting in the car and you have to get your body pointed at the door — so you plant a hand, take your weight on one hip, and twist. Knees go one way, shoulders the other, and for a second everything is loaded and turning at the same time. That is the part people brace for. That is the part they get help for.
This puts a disc between you and the seat that turns instead. You stay square, the pad rotates, and you come round to face the open door already pointing the right way. Then it is just standing up.
What it actually is
Two flat circular plates, one on top of the other, joined by a low plastic pivot at the centre. The top plate is padded and upholstered — that is the part you sit on. The bottom plate stays put on the seat. Turn, and the top plate rotates against the bottom one, a full circle, either direction.
That is the whole mechanism. There is nothing to switch on, nothing to charge, nothing to adjust, and nothing that can run out. It is a turntable you sit on.
A flat nylon tail extends from one side and lies on the seat behind the pad, and there is a small pull loop at the rim for lifting it out.
It turns you. It does not lift the seat.
Worth being plain about, because it is the one thing people get wrong. This is not a riser and it is not a wedge. It will not raise a low seat to a comfortable height, it will not tilt you forward to help you up, and it will not firm up a seat base that has collapsed.
It changes one thing: which way you are pointing. If the problem is that you cannot get up out of a low chair at all, this is not the fix. If the problem is the twist — the part where you have to corkscrew yourself towards the door — this is exactly the fix.
You will sit a little higher
Two plates and a layer of padding have to go somewhere. It is low — the whole stack is about the thickness of a closed hardback book — but it is not nothing, and you should know that before it arrives.
In most cars that reads as a slightly better view over the bonnet. In a car where you already have your seat at its lowest and your head close to the roof lining, it is worth sitting on a folded towel of about that thickness first and seeing how you get on.
It is not only for the car
Nothing about it is car-specific. It lifts out by the loop and goes wherever the same problem is: the dining chair you have to shuffle back from, the desk chair that does not swivel, the armchair with a table beside it, the bench at the end of the bed.
People who get on with it tend to end up with more than one — one that lives in the car and one that lives on the chair they use most. There is nothing to fit either way, so moving it takes a second.
Where it works, and where it fights you
It wants a flat seat base with something firm underneath. Ordinary car seats, dining chairs, office chairs and bench seats all qualify, and on those it turns easily.
What it does not like is a seat that is deeply dished or heavily bolstered. A sports-style bucket seat, a soft sofa cushion or a sagging armchair lets the pad sink and tilt, and the moment the two plates are no longer parallel the turn goes stiff. Same story on a seat so contoured that the disc cannot lie flat.
It also lies loose. There is nothing clipping it down, which is what makes it a second to move and also what means it can need straightening now and then.
Before you drive off
It swivels. That is the point of it, and it is also the thing to think about once you are in. Come round to face forward, settle your weight, and then put the belt on — so the belt is sitting across you square, the way it is meant to.
This is a convenience aid for getting in and out. It is not a fitted car seat, not a booster, and not a medical device, and it should not be used as one.
Five colours
Black, Coffee, Gray, Beige and Red. The first four are quiet enough to disappear into most car interiors and most dining rooms; Red does not, on purpose, and it is the easiest one to find again in a dark car.
All five are the same cushion. The colour is the only difference.

Straight answers
How much weight will it take?
We do not have a published figure from the supplier, so we are not going to invent one. If a stated weight limit is what you need before you buy, tell us and we will chase it rather than guess.
Will it slide around on the seat?
It lies loose, held by your own weight and the seat it is sitting in. On an ordinary fabric or textured seat that is enough. On very smooth leather, or a seat you are getting in and out of many times a day, expect to square it up occasionally.
Does it turn while I am sitting on it, or do I have to lift?
Sitting on it. That is the whole idea — your weight stays on the top plate while it rotates. On a flat, firm seat it comes round with a push of a heel or a hand on the door frame.
Is this a medical device?
No. It is a seat cushion that turns, and it makes an awkward movement less awkward. It does not treat anything. If getting in and out of a car has become genuinely unsafe, that is a conversation for a physiotherapist or an occupational therapist, not a cushion.
Can I put it in the washing machine?
No — there is a plastic pivot inside it. Treat it like any upholstered pad: wipe the surface with a damp cloth and let it dry out of the car.
Which colour should I pick if I am buying it as a gift?
Black or Gray sit quietly in almost any car. Beige suits a lighter interior. Coffee is a warm brown rather than a true black — worth knowing if you are picturing black.
