What this actually is
A razor comb. Not a trimmer.
There is no motor in here, no battery, and nothing to charge. It is a small plastic comb with a flat steel razor blade seated behind the teeth. You comb, the blade shaves the hair it passes through, and that is the whole mechanism.
We are starting there because this page used to call it a trimmer, and that word makes people picture a cordless clipper. It is not one. Knowing what you are holding is most of what makes a razor comb work.
What a razor comb is good at
A razor cuts each hair on a slant rather than straight across. That is the reason to reach for one, and it is also the reason not to.
Ends that taper
A slanted cut leaves a softer, feathered edge instead of a hard line. It is how bangs stop looking like a ruler was involved.
Weight taken out
Passing the comb through the mid-lengths thins bulk out gradually rather than removing a chunk, which is what thinning shears do in a salon.
Touch-ups between cuts
It fits in a bag with both covers on. The realistic job is tidying bangs that have grown into your eyes, not giving yourself a haircut.
A razor will not give you blunt, straight-across bangs. If that is the look you want, you want scissors, not this.
How it goes together
Three pieces, and they are all in the pack.
- The body. A rounded square of molded plastic that disappears inside a closed hand. A row of fine teeth runs along one edge and a slightly wider row along the other, with the blade sitting behind them.
- Two snap-on covers. One for each toothed edge. They are the only thing between the blade and whatever else is in your bag, so they matter more than they look like they do.
- The dial on the face. It turns. The supplier describes it as the blade-height control, and turning it changes how far the blade sits proud of the teeth. We have not measured the settings, so we are not going to quote you a number of positions.

There is a real razor blade inside
Lift the comb plate and you can see it: a flat steel blade in a shallow bay, the same wafer shape used in a double-edge safety razor, held down by a small bar across the middle. It is sharp in the way a razor blade is sharp.
- Adults only. Store it somewhere children cannot get to it. A loose razor blade is not a thing to leave in a drawer at hand height.
- Covers on whenever it is not in your hand. Both of them. That is what they are for.
- If you take the blade out, hold it by the flat sides. Never by the long edges.
- Go slowly and stay away from your eyes. Work on the ends of the hair, hold the section away from your face, and take small passes.
One blade comes fitted. Spare blades are not listed in the pack and we are not going to imply they are.
Using it without regretting it
Work on dry hair. Wet hair stretches, so you cut more than you meant to and only find out when it dries.
Comb the section straight down first so every hair is lying the same way. Then rest the teeth flat against the hair and draw the comb down through the ends.
Take a little, look, take a little more. Length does not come back, and a razor takes it faster than you expect on the second pass.
Rinse the hair out of the teeth and dry it before you put the covers back on.
Who this is not for
The page it replaces said this suits every hair type and length. That is not true of any razor, and pretending otherwise is how people end up with frizz they did not ask for.
- Tightly curled or coily hair. A slanted cut opens the end of the strand. On curls that tends to read as frizz and split ends rather than as softness.
- Fine, fragile or chemically damaged hair. Same reason. Blunt scissor cuts are kinder to a strand that is already struggling.
- Children. No part of this belongs near a small face, and we are not selling it for that.
- Anyone wanting a hard, blunt line. A razor physically cannot produce one.
Straight to gently wavy hair of ordinary thickness is where a razor comb behaves itself.
The plain facts
The blade is steel and lifts out of its bay. We have not tested third-party replacement blades in it, so we will not tell you which ones fit until we have.
Honest about a small tool
This is a few dollars of molded plastic with a razor blade in it. Used on dry, straightish hair, with small passes, it will keep your bangs out of your eyes and soften ends that have gone blunt. It will not do what a stylist does, and we have taken that claim off this page.
