If your hazard is being struck from the side, look for a Type II shell.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch2\u003eThe eye shield\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe lens is marked \u003cstrong\u003eANSI Z87+\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003e1F CE EN166\u003c\/strong\u003e. The plus is the part\nworth knowing: under Z87.1, a bare \"Z87\" lens meets the basic impact test, and \u003cstrong\u003eZ87+\u003c\/strong\u003e is\nthe high-impact designation. The EN166 part reads optical class 1 with an F impact grade.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt pulls down on two pivots under the brim and pushes back up under the brim when you don't want it.\nBecause it stows into the shell rather than folding into a case, it does not get sat on, and it does not\nget left behind.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cdiv class=\"ge-safe\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eIt is a shield, not a sealed goggle.\u003c\/strong\u003e The listing has historically called these\n\"goggles\" and that word oversells them. This lens curves in front of your face and is open around the\nedges. It stops what flies at you. It will not keep out fine airborne dust that drifts in from the side,\nand it is not a chemical splash barrier. They rotate down onto your\nears and back up clear of them, so you can take a question from someone without stripping your hat off.\nThe cups are marked \u003cstrong\u003eCE 2777\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eEN 352-3\u003c\/strong\u003e, which is the European standard\nfor earmuffs attached to an industrial safety helmet.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cdiv class=\"ge-safe\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eThere is no NRR published for these muffs, so we are not going to quote one.\u003c\/strong\u003e In the US,\nhearing protection is sold with an EPA-required Noise Reduction Rating on the package, and this product\ndoes not carry one. The EN 352-3 marking tells you the cups were built and tested to a helmet-mounted\nearmuff standard; it does not, on its own, tell you how many decibels they take off. Nobody should choose\nhearing protection for a genuinely loud job from a number that the seller invented, so we have left it\nblank rather than fill it in.
