It is thin and it twists — you can\nwring it like a cloth — which is what lets it wrap over an uneven rock instead of bridging across it. There is a\nrubber bumper over the toe to take the knocks.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"fine\"\u003eWe are not going to tell you it prevents slipping. Nothing does, and no slip-resistance rating is\npublished for this shoe. The knit upper is pierced with a scatter of small perforations that\ndo the same job for the sides, and let the shoe breathe when you are back on dry land. It is a shoe designed to get\nwet and then get un-wet quickly, rather than one designed to keep water out.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch3\u003eTwo straps — the \"double buckle\" in the name\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA wide strap crosses the instep and doubles back through a flat loop keeper, and a second narrower one sits low\nacross the ankle opening. Two separate points of adjustment matter more than it sounds on a shoe this soft: the\ninstep strap stops your foot sliding forward on a downhill step, and the ankle strap is what keeps the shoe on\nwhen you are pulling your foot out of soft sand or mud.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch3\u003eA cushion pad at the heel\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere is a pad set into the heel of the sole. It takes the edge off, but understand the scale: this is a\nminimal shoe, and the whole sole is a few millimeters of rubber.
